Drop That Carton- Trade Ice Cream for Yogurt

Warm weather. Short sleeves. Days spent outside. Spring is here which can only mean one thing… it’s ice cream season.

We grab a cone with some friends, enjoy a sundae at home or add a scoop to our favorite dessert. But did you know that 1 cup of Ben and Jerry’s chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream contains 540 calories and 28 grams of fat. Not to mention if you are like me and can easily finish off a carton (I still claim they are faily small) you are consuming 1080 calories and 56 grams of fat. Unfortunately Ben and Jerry’s doesn’t look so good in shorts and a tank top, so it’s time to drop that carton and trade in for a sweet alternative.

Fear not though foodies, here is a great yogurt fruit dip alternative to ice cream that only contains about 65 calories and 0 grams of fat per ¼ cup, plus it has 5.2 grams of protein so it will fill you up. Add your favorite fruit like strawberries (5 large= about 30 calories and .5 grams of fat), pineapple (1 cup= about 78 calories and 0 grams of fat) or kiwi (1 kiwi= about 46 calories and .7 grams of fat) and you have a low cal, deliciously refreshing snack.
