Spring Feeding: A Time for Cheap Produce

Spring Produce on a Tight Budget

Warm sun. Clean air. Refresh fruit. Bright Colors. Empty Pocket. Although the recent weather has been decieving, today is the scheduled first day of Spring.  Buying fresh produce is a healthy choice that can be be done on a tight budget. When I enter the local grocery store I am always looking for the lowest price. It doesn’t come as a surprise that the price of different produce depends on the season and location. While most produce is relatively cheap during any season, it is nice to know before entering the store what the best deals are. Budget each bite.

Leeks, asparagus and rubarb are three of the cheapest in seasons produce options during Spring according to mint.com. Now is the best time to start a herb garden if you are interested in trying out new tastes at a cheap price.  Starting an herb garden is relatively cheap and will continue to grow all spring and summer if taken care of correctly.

Enjoy the beautiful weather!
